Keystone was named as a “Top Boutique in California 2021” by the Daily Journal, after the firm was recognized for its unique approach practicing probate law that enabled it to prosper in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The firm adapted business practices while finding opportunities to help clients amid the on-going pandemic.
Keystone attorneys quickly jumped into action helping a client looking to remove her elderly mother with Alzheimer’s disease from her brother’s home. Fearing her mother was at risk of contracting COVID, Keystone was able to obtain emergency orders from a probate judge despite many courts being closed or only offering limited functions at the time. The judge authorized a temporary conservatorship which enabled the client to immediately relocate her mother to a safe environment. (Read the case study here.)
Keystone’s tech-forward approach also enabled attorneys and staff to easily shift to remote work, virtual mediations and court proceedings, and advanced video conferencing with clients. In return, Keystone continued its growth, hiring more employees and taking on more clients in 2021 than any prior year.
“I think due to COVID and the technological advancements that came with it … we became even more attractive to a wider range of clients,” says Shawn S. Kerendian, Keystone’s founder and Managing Partner. “We credit our continued success to the repeated and sustained pattern of success we obtain for our clients.”
Each year, the Daily Journal conducts a competitive nomination process to honor 20 boutique law firms in California, considering criteria such as current cases and firm growth. To be eligible, firms must focus at least 90 percent of resources on a specialty and be based in California. Keystone is honored to be selected for this prestigious award.
