Keystone is thrilled to announce that Partner Verlan Kwan has been named to the Top Women Lawyers 2024 list by the Daily Journal. This distinguished honor recognizes the top 100 women practicing law across the state of California.
Verlan specializes in trust and estate administration and litigation. With over a decade of litigation experience, she has adeptly represented trustees, executors, administrators, creditors, heirs, and beneficiaries in complex disputes involving assets ranging from several hundred thousand dollars to tens of millions. Her extensive knowledge and compassionate approach have enabled her to successfully litigate and settle many matters.
In its profile of Verlan, the Daily Journal spotlighted some of her impressive cases, including when the executor of a decedent’s estate learned that his estranged daughter had managed to steal the contents of his bank account. “We had her dead to rights,” Verlan told the Daily Journal. “We got her to return everything down to the last penny. In cases like this, you see a lot of greed, and you try not to get jaded. You try to have compassion and heart.”
Another long-running case highlighted involved the estate of a wealthy timeshare developer, where Verlan successfully litigated the removal of the successor trustee and the recovery of the surviving spouse’s community property interest worth tens of millions of dollars. “Verlan’s inclusion in the Top Women Lawyers list is a testament to her exceptional legal skills and unwavering dedication to her clients,” said Managing Partner Shawn Kerendian. “Her ability to navigate complex legal issues with both expertise and empathy sets her apart in the field.
