A judge rejected the motion by Paul Walker’s mother, Cheryl Walker, to drop her guardianship claim over the late actor’s daughter, saying that it is the court’s discretion to grant or deny the guardianship case, WTVA reported on May 1.
Commissioner David Cowan issued an investigation over the guardianship case of Meadow, Paul Walker’s 15-year-old daughter. The findings will be discussed at the next hearing on May 28. Cowan also assigned legal counsel to represent the late actor’s daughter in the case.
The commissioner’s refusal to dismiss the case came after Cheryl Walker attempted to settle the guardianship claim out-of-court with Meadow’s mother, Rebecca Soteros.
Last March, Cheryl Walker filed for guardianship over her granddaughter through Los Angeles Superior Court, claiming the teen would be at risk in the custody of her mother, who has struggled with alcoholism.
